Our Workers
The Rockfield Quarry provides job security for nearly 100 Cemex employees and their families. They are members of your community, active in local charities, youth sports, and church, and their kids attend local schools.
“This job has given me a lot of opportunities. I was able to put three of my daughters through college, I was able to buy a house, raise my family, and keep moving forward. If this quarry gets shut down, I’ll have to start all over somewhere else. I don’t want to start anywhere else. I’m happy here, this is home.”
“If the quarry were shut down, the impact would be absolutely detrimental, not just for myself, but for all of my coworkers, close to 100 — especially for all of our customers and vendors that are local, some of which have been in business for over 100 years. Cemex’s plan will create jobs for many generations to come.”

“It’s been a rewarding career here at Cemex because I’ve been able to grow and start from one position and work my way up to something even more rewarding. Generally, people come in and they stay. The pay is good, and the quality of life that the job gives them is good. I’ve experienced the same thing.”

“I’m a local to Friant. I live about 8 miles up the road, and I own a house. I have a family, a wife and daughter that’s 10 months old. I was able to build that life because of this job. If this mine were to shut down, I would have a hard time finding work. If I did find work, it would probably be out of the area, so a lot of travel would be involved. It’s nice to be home with my wife and daughter every night instead of being on the road away from them. This quarry supports hundreds of jobs, and Cemex’s plan will create hundreds more.”
